What We Believe

Rather than lose you in theology or overwhelm you with doctrine, we’ll cut

to the chase. Here are the core values we follow that provide a road map

for all our ministries. At Woodside we aim to be:


Christ-centered: It is through Jesus alone that we have access to God. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” (John 14:6-7)

Glorifying to God: We were created to serve and honor God. “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” (Deuteronomy 6:5)

Biblically-based: The Bible is God’s word to all people. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Eternity-minded: Men and woman were created to live forever, either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16-17)

Prayer-focused: Spiritual power and direction come from communion with God. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Mission-motivated: We reach out to those in need in our church family, in our community and around the world. “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” (Matthew 25:35-36)

All-inclusive: We invite all (regardless of faith background, socio-economics, gender or race) to actively receive and participate in our ministries. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29)

Growth-oriented: Spiritual transformation is ongoing. By reaching up, reaching in and reaching out we’re actively involved in this process
.“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” (1 Peter 3:18)

Spirit-driven: The Holy Spirit provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)

Excellence-bound: We strive to give God our best in all we do. “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8)
