The Woodside Senior High Youth Group will travel to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, from July 16-23. This summer marks the seventh trip there and once again we'll work with Raoul and Karen Armbrister of Karazim Ministries. We'll repair homes damaged and destroyed from recent hurricanes and continue to develop the deep relationships formed over the past years. Here's some of what we'll do:
Light construction
Roofing
Painting
Build and plant raised bed gardens
Worship
Fellowship
Play with the children
Evening devotionals
Pray with locals
Last year we were blessed to have 26 members on our team working with an awesome family to help them serve and minister to others in their village. We painted and roofed their home, and built 12 raised gardens and two arbors for young plants.
We also took on a new task of harvesting some fishing traps that were built through funds we sent to Karazim. A total of 70 traps have been built since Karazim received a commercial fishing license to help feed and raise money for locals.
The team bonded during small-group devotional time focused on Philippians 4:13, “I can all things through God who strengthens me.” They also were able to have some fun and built great relationships during the nightly games and social time.
